Months ago, I ran into Serena Rio at an event at Luft Los Angeles, she had spent the day shredding with buds around town, as she does. I've followed her on IG for years, and have always admired her art (I have both the jersey and saddle from her MFF roses collab, big fan) and love how she exudes this... fuckin'... joie de vivre that's unparalleled by anyone I've really ever cared to witness. I simply love her (sorry, bud, I'm already gushing) - a few months later, we reconnected at Sea Otter when she rolled up to dominate the enduro - Carhartt clad and a little hungover - a goddam champion if there ever was one. If you don't know her, get to know her, she's a literal light, a real hero of mine, and someone that makes the community of riding bikes exponentially more rad.
She was down to create a collaboration with Bummerland, which sent me over the moon - she sent the artwork and I was immediately like - yup, no changes. I loved the concept; "Hang in There" is a term that can be applied everywhere. At a macro level: idiotic leaders, a global pandemic, inflation, horrible bosses, racism, sexism... I could sit here all day and paint that picture, but we're all living it, so why hammer on it any more. On a personal level: relationships, 20% grade mountain roads, learning how to ride chonky MTB rodeo rocks, career situations, figuring out what's for lunch.
This pin is a reminder to keep goin' - you've got this.
